Shawl/Poncho Tencel Handwoven Hand Dyed

$215.00

Yes, I dyed and wove the fabric.

Tencel yarn is soft and drapes well.  It breathes and can be worn in all seasons: under a coat in the winter over a sundress or top in the spring, summer, or fall.  It can be worn as a poncho, scarf, or draped as a cowl.

TENCEL™ sourced from sustainably managed forests. The fabric is also completely biodegradable, with no nasty chemicals or microplastics created in the breakdown process.

The poncho can be worn three/four ways. Side over the left shoulder, over the right shoulder, seam in front (as a scarf) or in the back.  The yarn for the warp and weft were both hand dyed.  As a result the fabric has subtle color variations.  Each way it is worn will look slightly different.

The yarn was measured for the warp; hand dyed using several different colors, producing a variegated effect.  Approximately 25 yards of fabric is woven from each warp that is dyed.  The fringe it is hand twisted.  All fabric is machine washed and dried after the item is woven.

There are subtle color variations.  Each way it is worn will look slightly different.

My favorite part is watching as the thread weave together creating subtle shading changes.  While weaving I can only see about 12 inches of finished fabric.  After weaving it's exciting to watch the fabric wind off the loom.

Weave: twill variation

Size: 20” by 34” folded plus fringe

Machine washable - cold water gentle cycle

Dry in dryer
