Cape/Shawl coat Seacell Handwoven Hand Dyed

$268.00

Cape/Shawl coat Seacell Handwoven Hand Dyed

This one of a kind piece of wearable art was hand woven on a floor loom in my studio under the watchful eyes of two adoring border collies. The yarn was measured for the warp; hand dyed using different colors. Approximately 25 yards of fabric is woven from each warp that is dyed. The fringe it is hand twisted. All fabric is machine washed and dried after the item is woven.

Once you put it on you won’t want to take it off.

My favorite part is watching as the threads are woven together creating subtle shading changes. While weaving I can only see about 12 inches of finished fabric. After weaving it's exciting to watch the fabric wind off the loom.

Fiber: Seacell yarn is made from seaweed. It is soft and drapes well. It breathes and can be worn in all seasons: under a coat in the winter over a sundress or top in the spring, summer, fall.

Weave: Twill variation
Approximate measurements:
Front panels are each 20” wide
Front length 24”
Back 28” inches
Circumference 76”
Arm opening circumference- 20 inches

Machine washable - cold water gentle cycle
Dry in dryer
